Mr Michael Vernau

Michael is the Course Coordinator for Sound at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.

Background

Michael has worked in live sound since 1996 as a FOH engineer, monitor engineer and FOH audio system tech.

Michael has mixed FOH for the following live music acts: Emily Wurramurra, Harvey Sutherland, Ngaiire, Bliss N Esso, Illy, The Vanns, The Superjesus, Shannon Noel, Bec Sandridge, The Angels, Leah Flanagan, Jeff Martin, Mahalia Barnes, Elsy Wameyo, Telenova, My Sunburnt Soundtrack, Tripod, Jason Heerah, Yirrmal, Jacotine, 27 Club, Stories of Water & Earth and Jazz Party. Michael has also worked as a monitor engineer providing services for Damien Leith, Katanga Jr, Ian Moss and Moonlight Benjamin. As a FOH system tech, Michael has worked on recent productions which include acts such as Icehouse, Regurgitator, Teen Jesus and the Teen Teezers, Flight Facilities, Rose Tattoo, Jimmy Barnes, Daryl Braithwaite, Arlo Parks, Confidence Man, Mallrat and Alex the Astronaut.

Michael also works in live sound for theatre. Most recently he has mixed FOH for the musicals Chess and Evita, and has ongoing engagements working as an audio operator for festivals including Darwin Festival and Womad.

In 2021 Michael was a recipient of an Northern Territory (NT) Performing Arts Award for services to event technical training.
